Sunday Sustenance

We are having Missions Conference at our church this week. The theme is from Isaiah 52:7...

"How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!"

I am scheduled to play the offertory tomorrow, and I'm planning to play "Brighten the Corner Where You Are."

Do not wait until some deed of greatness you may do,
Do not wait to shed your light afar;
To the many duties ever near you now be true,
Brighten the corner where you are.

Just above are clouded skies that you may help to clear,
Let not narrow self your way debar;
Though into one heart alone may fall your song of cheer,
Brighten the corner where you are.

Here for all your talent you may surely find a need,
Here reflect the bright and Morning Star;
Even from your humble hand the Bread of Life may feed,
Brighten the corner where you are.

Brighten the corner where you are!
Brighten the corner where you are!
Someone far from harbor you may guide across the bar;
Brighten the corner where you are!

Whether or not we ever move to another country to be a missionary, we must be a shining light for the Lord wherever we are. Every one with whom we come into contact should see Christ shining forth from our actions and our words. And as they see that light, hopefully the opportunity will arise to share more light with them and guide them to the Savior before it's eternally too late.

How has the Lord been working in your heart? I'd love for you to leave a comment or link in and share!

  1. Thanks for the inspiring words. I started my Bible study with the first chapter of Isaiah this morning. I got a lot of insight out of the first chapter. Can't wait to study the rest!
